Over 60 guests participated in a Poverty Simulation at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on October 9th. Understanding Poverty was a unique, enlightening experience that helped participants to better understand what life is like with a shortage of

money and an abundance of stress. "It moved people to think about the harsh realities of poverty." said Board Member and participant, Suzy Salomon.

The simulation left a lasting impression on participants.

Participants experienced the fears and frustrations that our clients deal with daily.

Kelly,  the mother of three boys, came to AUM for emergency help after fleeing an abusive relationship. While working with AUM, Kelly completed her GED

and obtained a full time job. She and her boys moved into a safe, new home

within their neighborhood schools.
